Get to know SAMO.

In short

SAMO is a Brazilian hip-hop band formed in 2018. The idea began in 2016, when DIP and DARAN were in Australia. This is the band's official site, with music, videos, story and contact for shows and press. The band is currently based in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

The story

The idea began in 2016, during a study exchange in Australia, with DIP and DARAN. In 2018, GUTO, DARAN, DIP and GAB formed SAMO. The lineup published on the site brings together DIP, GAB, GUTO, PEDRO VOYAGE and PIPE, who bring paths in Brazilian popular music, rap, bass, guitar and music production to the project. The journey includes a collaboration with rapper De Leve and performances at RTMO Festival, TUM Festival and Seas Festival.

PEDRO VOYAGE

Bass and music production

Born in Joinville, PEDRO VOYAGE began studying bass at 11. He played in classic rock and indie bands before joining SAMO as a keyboardist. He later moved to bass and became involved in the group’s songwriting and music production.

GUTO

Music and songwriting

Brazilian popular music is one of the influences of Joinville-born GUTO. In 2018, he released the acoustic EP “Músicas pra um fim de tarde”, with songs inspired by his time in Coimbra and his return to Brazil. That same year, he helped form SAMO.

DIP

Vocals and artistic direction

DIP got his first drum kit at eight and began performing with bands at 14. His background also includes painting, graffiti and design. In SAMO, he sings, writes songs and develops the project’s visual side, from scripts and videos to merch.

GAB

Vocals and songwriting

GAB was born in Florianópolis to a musician and a dancer. He started in his school’s marching band, then moved into jam sessions and rap. He formed a group in 2015 before developing his solo work. In SAMO, he sings, writes songs and also handles the commercial production of the shows.

PIPE

Guitar and musical direction

PIPE started playing cavaquinho at ten, then moved to guitar, studying jazz and Brazilian popular music. In 2021, he opened his studio in Florianópolis and composed and produced “Desculpa o exagero” by Thalita Meneghim. In 2022, he toured with Diogo Defante. At PIPE’STUDIO, he produces and directs music for original artists from southern Brazil.
